Pretreatment for people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Handling for PTSD sufferers includes:
a.   Psychoanalytic Therapy
Handling Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and trauma involves carefully and gradually "exposing" yourself to thoughts, feelings, and situations that remind you of the trauma. Therapy also involves identifying disturbing thoughts about traumatic events-especially distorted and irrational thoughts-and replacing them with a balanced picture
The goals of CBT treatment are reduction of PTSD symptoms, development of positive skills, and improvement in the sense of individual well-being. It is useful for providing both parents and students with education and information about PTSD and its effects at all levels.
c.   Family therapy.
Family therapy can help PTSD sufferers understand what is being experienced. It can also help everyone in the family communicate better and work through relationship problems caused by PTSD symptoms. Counselors can do:
* Interview parents to gather as much information as possible. The use of empathy, relationship formation, and a safe environment in which individuals can discuss painful and angry feelings are critical to obtaining accurate information. Particular attention should be paid to using developmentally appropriate language when assessing individuals,
* When interviewing parents, the goal is to gather as much information as possible so that an understanding of the parent's perspective on the trauma and the relationship with the child can be determined.
